What's there in shape??

Tried and tasted by Nivedita
Hi All,
Aren't we all magicians in the kitchen? I always feel like that. We prepare food in minutes! We create new dishes. We do some magic to prepare tasty food with the ingredients we have in the kitchen shelf. We are always ready for unexpected guests.
Am I going out of the track? Sometimes  I love to go!
I love to be in the kitchen and create some magic, which many times I fail because I am not so creative and do not have patience.
Many times I prepare the same food with different methods or recipes.
And same way, I love these rolls.
Here I feel exactly  like I am a magician. Give me any shape from the dough, I roll the chapatis into exact round shape(with little care) or the exact triangle shape! I am making these since child hood.

Try these folds to make chapatis. I feel, each method, the chapati tastes different.

Jowar Rotti (from the past)

Tried and tasted by Nivedita
Hi All,
The art learnt is never out of your mind. There is a saying in Kannada : "Vidye kalitu mareyabeku"
Thats what I checked it today. It was a regular cooking for me to make Jowar rotti when I was in UAE. But after I came back to India, I totally stopped making it as there is an old lady who makes it everyday. But today I thought of trying it whether I have forgotten to make or what. And I could make rottis very well.
Look at the photo:
I prepared nice soft and thin rottis.
Link for the recipe is Jowar rotti(Jolada rotti)

I clicked TOSHA (Sweet Flour Rolls) for COOK and CLICK-3,

Tried and tasted by Nivedita
Hi All,
Here are the clicks for Tosha(Sweet Flour Rolls) which I prepared today and were not seen in the box after little while!!!

I used half the quantity only and I got 25 Toshas of small bites.  Click TOSHA (Sweet Flour Rolls) for COOK and CLICK-3 for the recipe.

My verdict : I prepared these Toshas after 12 years. The taste was very good. Toshas very soft and sweet and crispy from outside.
Follow the recipe, and give time for syrup to get thick consistency.  Best and quick sweet for everyone for all the occasions.
Try it  to believe it.

My Holidays in Pune - Part II, Food I tasted!!

Tried and tasted by Nivedita
Hi All,
As I promised, I am here with part II, where I am going to share about the food we had in Pune.
First coming to the food, there was absolutely no cooking for full 45 days. Everyday there was a maid to cook the regular food. But sometimes I enjoyed the food prepared by my Sister in law. She prepares very tasty no oil, thin Thali peeth. She prepared Sambhar, juices and butter milk. Her Varan (plain dal) is too good. This time, we missed Pao bhaji!! I did not take any photos!
The best thing happened was, getting fresh juices  that too early in the morning. There is a company which supplies variety of fresh juices. They have door to door services. Every day I enjoyed it very much. They had a long list of juices in which I tried were,
First few days I tried all the juices Beet, Wheat grass, Amla, carrot, ginger lime and fresh fruit juices like papaya, mango, chikkoo, pineapple and apple. Then I settled down for fresh juice. It was different everyday.
I could take the photo only on first day!! There is apple milk shake, wheat grass juice and Ash gourd juice in the photo.
Next is exactly the opposite of above. I loved the jalebis I had in Pune. I think I never tasted so crispy and so tasty jalebis. There is one  Jalebi junction in Baner, opposite food Bazar. You get many other chats also with jalebi. His main sweets are Coin jalebis, Rabdi jalebi, Jalebi malpua..... and chaat!!! The list was Sev puri, Chole Bathure, Samosa, Ragda Pattice, Chaat basket ......,
I think I had the jalebis  more than 10 times in a month!!!

Whenever I go to Pune, it is always a must to visit few restaurants. Among these are : Koyla, where you get the tastiest Biryani. Especially the one "Diwani Handi" , This is the mixture of Chicken, Mutton and Vegetable biryani with egg too!! Sorry, I did not take the photo. My younger one was troubling me a lot, so I had to pack my plate to home and have!!Visit this place if you go to Pune. The other food is also very tasty. But I felt it is little costlier than other restaurants
Afterwards, we thought not to go out to eat as Phalguni won't allow us to eat, we got the food to home only. This time it was from Tiranga! The main food here is Maharashtrian non veg food. The mutton dishes are very good.
One more place we visit is, Magnolia which is  Chinese. But this time,  we went for take away again. I wanted  to  try Mainland China, but becoz of my daughter I had to drop the idea. May be next time.
And we again took a risk of taking Phalguni to Pizza Hut. Again I had to stand and eat as she was not allowing me to sit on a chair!!!
Next was the a big glass of chilled mint flavored AAM KA PANNA. My brother's neighbor Ashwini, brought it for us. It was the yummiest panna!! (recipe will follow soon)

And the Bhel, I prepared at home, (recipe will be posted soon)

and the cakes I baked in the class,(recipes only after I buy an over and bake the cakes)

I think my post is becoming lengthy!!!
Hey, and do you all think that I put on more weight after all these!!! NO!! Actually I lost my weight!!! now I can wear my old jeans!
I am stopping this here only. I will be back with Part III with reviews on few more movies I watched in Pune.

Life is Easy With these!!!!

Tried and tasted by Nivedita
Hi All,
When you are hungry and do not have strength to prepare more dishes!! These come as a Saviour! It is like a boon to prepare these and store for a year. And not to forget, children love to eat these! Problem with your child's food habit? Give hot rice, ghee and these. They will have it within no time.
Are you thinking that what I am talking about?
Check out the photo! You will agree with me!
These are readymade, which I got from market.

Awards!!!! and food in photo!

Tried and tasted by Nivedita
Hi All
Before I started my blog, I was a silent follower of many blogs, and when ever I used to see the awards on their blogs, I used to feel, is it possible for me to get at least one award among these. It might not be a big thing for many to get awards !! But for me, I feel really very happy and I feel, even I am something!!!!
I was busy in the last week, as my brother and bhabhi came for my second daughter's birthday!!!
It was great fun!!! and when I opened my mail after a week, I got the surprise from Padma!!
Thanks Padma for passing these wonderful awards to me!!!

When I started my blog, I never thought, I will get the awards so soon.

And, I want to thank all my friends in this blog world for passing so wonderful and encouraging awards to me!!!

Coming to the the recipe in "Food in photo", it is VEG NOODLES, my way, as I love to have this healthy noodles only this way cooked. I eat Plain noodles also sometimes, but prefer to eat this way as my morning breakfast as it is very good to start a day with lot of vegetables and sometimes adding scrambled egg in it. The recipe is almost the same in many blogs.
(check the same recipe in http://paritaskitchen.blogspot.com/2009/09/maggi-or-pastaitsfusion.html).Only difference is I boil the noodles first and add it after all the vegetables are cooked.
So I thought of posting it in my "Food in Photo"

(I could not participate in many events as I was busy in the party!! I hope I will try to participate in coming months regularly!!! )

WaterMelon Watermelon!!!!!!!

Tried and tasted by Nivedita
Hi All,
In summer, when you come home after long sunny day, if you see a glass of red color juice topped with ice cubes!!! How will you feel???
That is the wonder of Watermelon. A crunchy and tasty fruit, you will enjoy in any season, either as a bite or a sip.
From the sources(Watermelon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), it is said that, watermelons were being cultivated in China, which is today the world's single largest watermelon producer.
Water Melon is an excellent source of vitamin C and a good source of vitamin A (http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=31).
It is also in debate that whether watermelon is a fruit or vegetable?? For me it is both, that too after checking the recipe(Taste of NorthIndia) by Sangi of simplydelicious. It is really very innovative recipe.
I love to have it in any form, crunchy bites removed from the fridge, a whole big glass of juice topped with ice cubes and seasoned with salt and pepper, in salad or dosa prepared with its skin. Yes!! dosas prepared using the skin of the watermelon tastes very good. Give it a try. Just add the peeled skin with soaked rice which you make for normal dosas.

Strawberry

Tried and tasted by Nivedita

Hi all,

Strawberry, the most beautiful fruit, in spite having black spot on it!!! I call it black spot beauty!!!!
I love this fruit in any form. More than eating, I love to sit and watch it for long time.

It makes me think that even we should be like Strawberry. Have beautiful mind, think good, be kind and look beautiful, in spite of having bad things, many drawbacks or weakness in us!!
(Am I too bad in Philosophy???)
I am posting it in my "Food in Photo", as it looks more pretty like this than in any form.
May be I will post one or two preparations with this in future.
Its diffucult to get good strawberry at my place. So when ever I get, I will try to post a recipe.
